2023 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting

Our team recently attended the 2023 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting in Washington D.C. We were thrilled to have 4 abstracts selected for presentation, including 1 platform presentation, 1 oral poster symposia, and 2 posters. Highlights from these presentations centered on the role of placental development for brain development and neurodevelopmental outcome, showing that placental growth is altered in fetuses with congenital heart disease and that placental vascular changes relate to fetal brain development when a genetic diagnosis is present, and also predict neurodevelopmental outcome. Additionally, we presented on the prenatal factors that contribute to mortality and neurodevelopmental impairment for children with congenital heart disease.
